The Eye is the First Circle

The eye is the first circle; the horizon which it forms is the second; and throughout nature this primary figure is repeated without end. The film is projected directly onto the doors and architecture within the gallery space. It was shot in the botanical garden of Stockholm, projected through a mirror, casting reflections on a wall that explores the surfaces of the artist's studio. The depiction captures both an inward and outward perspective. The trembling hand symbolizes both a void and a projection, a moon and a sun. Furthermore, it mirrors the dark chamber from which the camera obscura derived its name.
